Speakers for this session:

Mary Ellen Barringer
President
Sequoia Philanthropic, LLC

Mary Ellen has nearly 20 years of experience as a major gifts and planned giving professional, working for educational, civic and health organizations and associations. As President of Sequoia Philanthropic,LLC, she works with non-profit organizations to raise major gifts from individuals. She also coaches CEO`s and Board members on major gift fundraising skills. Prior to forming Sequoia Philanthropic, LLC in 2007, she has worked as a major gifts officers for Georgetown University, the American Diabetes Association, and the National Law Enforcment Officers Memorial Fund. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Association Foundation Group. She received her MBA from the University of Detroit and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).

Marc Breslaw

Prior to his current position, Marc served as vice president at the Jewish Social Service Agency of Greater Washington, a 115-year-old non-sectarian agency in Rockville, MD, in charge of major gifts and marketing. While COO of the New Israel Fund, an international organization that funds and assists NGOs in Israel that advocate for civil and human rights and populations at risk, he stewarded a major gifts program in seven cities. Earlier, he was associate director of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, where he converted a capital campaign into a national major gifts program for the museum`s annual and endowment funds. He was director of development at the Kennedy Center, in charge of major gifts for the Center and the National Symphony Orchestra, Breslaw holds a MBA from Johns Hopkins University and a MS in journalism from Northwestern University

Sara Gibson

Sara Gibson has ten years of experience in nonprofit management and development. She currently serves as the Director of Development at Miriam’s Kitchen and has previously served as the Director of Development at the Sitar Arts Center and at Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington. In addition, Sara served as a development consultant for French and U.S. clients while working in Paris across 2007. Sara successfully started major donor programs at two organizations and is currently in the midst of a $8 million Comprehensive Campaign. She holds a BA in Political Science and Communications from Saint Mary’s College in Indiana. .
