At the Keystone Symposia on Molecular and Cellular Biology, Karen focuses on building relationships with Pharmaceutical and Biotech corporations. This has resulted in national and international corporate fundraising largely supporting the over $2.5 million dollar annual budget for meeting programs. She serves as a catalyst between global research scientists convening at over 50 yearly cutting-edge conferences and the Biotech and Life Sciences industries. In previous years her not-for-profit roles as Executive Director, National Coordinator, Lieutenant in a large Fire Dept. and Event Coordinator each afforded opportunities to work with the corporate community. Corporate support has ranged from grant awards, direct pledges/gifts, event sponsors and in-kind gifts. The corporate solicitation process is different from government and foundation grants in that it is important to have an element of personal rapport which supports their "What`s in it for THEM" focus or central point.
