Proposal writing

Winning a grant isn't easy and often the process of writing a proposal seems intimidating. Most of the difficulty comes from not knowing what exactly goes into an effective proposal. This session will cover the following topics:
  •  The essential components of a grant proposal package
  •  Important writing techniques that make your proposal stand out from the pile
  •  Layout and design of a strong proposal
  •  Customizing a proposal to match a grant maker's interest and using your proposal as a relationship building tool
You'll go back to the office with a well honed plan for ensuring that your proposals cover the right bases every time.

Speakers for this session:

Bruce Greer
Housing Director
Missouri Valley Community Action Agency

Bruce Greer currently works with Missouri Valley Community Action Agency (MVCAA) creating rental housing development for seven counties in rural Missouri. Over the past two years, he has been responsible for securing 1.9 million dollars in funding through proposal writing for state grants. Reflecting a 100 percent increase from previous years, Bruce achieved this through the implementation of new strategies and cultivation of new relationships. Prior to joining MVCAA, Bruce was an Information Technology Manager for Webster University. In this position he managed three campuses, determining the needs of clients both internal and external. Before that, he was a member of the United States Air Force. In this role he gained the foundation for the experience in project management and corporate solicitation.
